Center Church partners with multiple ministries and non-profit agencies in downtown San Diego to make a restoring impact on the city. Below is a list of some weekly service opportunities you can participate in.
Urban Angels makes food donations and provides feeding services to the homeless and hungry every Wednesday in collaboration with The Salvation Army of downtown San Diego. They are also the main food provider for residents of Connections Housing, San Diego’s new homeless shelter – serving residents every Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. Sign up for a volunteer team HERE.
The Monarch School is a K-12 educational facility specifically targeted to address the needs of children affected by homelessness. Kids in this program typically live in shelters or other transient housing and arrive to the program up to three years behind grade level. The Bosa Campus is recently opened in Barrio Logan. Volunteer opportunities from food service to tutoring programs are available HERE.
The San Diego Food Bank feeds over 300,000 people per month, relying entirely on volunteers to inspect, sort and package tons of food for distribution every day. Sign up to volunteer HERE. Volunteer projects include:
- Cleaning and packaging fresh produce for immediate distribution.
- Inspecting, sorting, boxing, and labeling food donations.
- Assembling food packages for Senior Food Program, Moms & Children Food Program, Food Assistance Program, and the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program.
The San Diego Rescue Mission is a Christ-centered organization serving the needs of the poor, addicted, abused, and homeless in the downtown area. There are multiple ways to volunteer. Sign up to serve HERE.
Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition (BSCC) is an alliance of over 60 government and nonprofit agencies in the United States and Latin America that is convened along the U.S.-Mexico Border Region to combat slavery and human trafficking. BSCC is committed to bilaterally preventing and intervening in the commercial and sexual exploitation of women and children. More information about BSCC and how you can help can be found HERE.
GenerateHope provides a safe place for victims of sex trafficking to be restored through long-term housing, healing, and education. Since recovery from sexual exploitation is a long-term process, GenerateHope provides individualized support to work through past trauma. This support is extended until the women reach the ability to live independently and become a positive influence on their communities and future generations.
